THE BEST SUMMER CAMP EVER!

Ages: Rising Kindergartners 5 – 12 years old

Camp hours: 6:00 am – 6:00 pm

Cost: $86/week for members and $116/week for program participants

Summer Camp Registration Information

Registration is held at the Tom & Ann Hunnicutt Family YMCA, 7827 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23607.

What to bring:

  1. You may fill out a Summer Camp Application to bring with you
  2. An original birth certificate, immunization record, and physical for each camper must accompany your application to register
  3. $40 non-refundable registration fee per child due at time of registration

Due to state licensing requirements, incomplete registrations cannot be processed.

Counselor in Training (CIT) Camp

Teens learn about being a camp counselor during morning course work sessions. In the afternoon they put their knowledge into practice while working side by side with counselors in camp groups. By application.

Ages: Rising 8th graders to rising 9th graders 13-15 years old

Cost: $77/week for members and $107/week for program participants

Superheros Camp – Session 1: June 18 – June 22
Young superheroes unite! Children will invent their own character and save the day! They will design costumes, create superhero powers and follow their own code of superhero behavior.

Basketball – Session 2: June 25 – June 29
This beginning basketball camp teaches basic skills through games and teamwork.

Soccer – Session 3: July 2 – July 6 (No camp Wed., July 4th)
This beginning soccer camp teaches basic skills through games and teamwork.

Harry Potter Camp – Session 4:  July 9 – July 13
Step into the shoes of a Hogwart wizard.  If your child is a Harry Potter fan this week will be an incredible chance to indulge in the magic behind potion making spell casting and of course quidditch      Ages: 5 years-12 years

Culinary – Session 5:  July 16 – July 20
Who’s hungry? Want to learn how to make some basic snacks and mini-meals? This camp is great for little chefs who want to learn basic meal preparation, how to set a table, develop a menu, and serve guests. Campers will participate in creating snack menus, making food, and serving guests.

Volleyball – Session 6: July 23 – July 27
This camp teaches the fundamental skills of volleyball through games and teamwork.

Lego – Session 7:  July 30 – August 3
Do you love building? Future engineers and architects use your imagination and problem solving skills to build 3D creations. During this week youth will work on individual projects as well as group projects creating objects, sharpening the mind and creating friendships through team work.

Flag Football – Session 8:  August 6 – August 10
This camp provides a foundation for growth and the opportunity to further the enjoyment of flag football.

Science – Session 9: August 13 – August 17
Explore the world of science through hands on experiments.

Swim – Session 10: August 20 – August 24
Learn the correct form, flip turns, starting dives, legal strokes and good team sportsmanship. Prerequisite: must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke continuously.
